But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord…
Your Pastor, Elder or a Christian who has the faith to do it can conduct Joshua 24:15 house blessings. It’s a great time of fellowship in the Lord. What a blessing to your family, friends and neighbors; a Spirit-led house blessing party.

Joshua 24:15 anointing oil is based with virgin olive oil as a symbol of healing, and pomegranate, hyssop, myrrh, and cassia oils.

Cassia was one of the principal spices of the holy anointing oil used to anoint kings and priests and their garments. In the spiritual sense, cassia speaks of humility, being stripped of pride, set apart (holy) with a servant’s heart. Psalm 45:88 “Your robes are all fragrant with myrrh, aloes and cassia…”

Pomegranate is a symbol of righteousness and the bright red fruit reminds us of the Blood of Jesus that covers our sins on the cross.

Hyssop is a symbol of cleansing. Exodus 12:22 “And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin…” Hyssop is also a symbol of cleansing by the refining fire of the Holy Spirit. Psalm 51:7 “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

Myrrh is symbolic of a crucified life, self-sacrifice. Myrrh, an exotic Biblical spice, was used in purification and beautification rites, in the formula for the holy anointing oil, and in burial spices. Bitter to the taste but sweet to the smell, myrrh in the spiritual sense speaks of dying to self to become a “sweet smelling savor” to the Lord.

All of these fragrances combined make the Joshua 24:15 Anointing Oil, a beautiful fragrance for the house blessing.

A house blessing is a prophetic act of obedience for welcoming God’s covering over your family and your home. Blessing a house can be as powerful as a marriage ceremony. It’s all about our love for God and what He has done for us. It’s showing our thankfulness to God and others. Blessing your home, new or old, is one of the best ways to get to know your neighbors. Just by inviting them, you can touch and bless your neighborhood.

The best way to do a house blessing is to start by spending some time in prayer to ask the Lord, the Holy Spirit, how He would like it to be done. Whether you do it big or small, do it according to your faith.

First, you can pray a prayer of cleansing over your land by anointing the four corners of it with the oil, with or without the people present. Then invite God’s presence to come on the land and to be your defense.

Then you can start the house blessing. Pray a blessing over your guests and thank the Lord for all of your family, friends and neighbors. Share a short testimony of how God brought you to this house. Then pray a cleansing over the house, anoint it and dedicate it to the Lord. Read some Bible verses you like aloud. Isaiah 4:5 “And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense.”

You can anoint the top posts of the doors and whatever else God tells you to anoint. Pray and ask God’s presence to come and fill your home. Bless the food and fellowship and make Jesus and your guests feel at home.
May God bless you in your home.
